In this presentation, Julie Beaufils, Secretary General of EuropeOn, will speak about the evolving role of the Electrical Contractor, the need for more trained electricians with new skills and a more digitalised approach, in order to ensure safety as part of the green transition. Responsible for installing solar modules, operating & maintenance activities, advising soon-to-be prosumers, and other electrification efforts, electrical contractors are making the green transition a reality. In a fast-evolving sector, they have partnered within EuropeOn to share best practices and raise European policymakers’ awareness to their new role.

Bio

Julie Beaufils is the Secretary General of EuropeOn, the Association of European Electrical Contractors. Founded in 1954, EuropeOn (ex- AIE) is the voice of the workers who “switch Europe ON” and see the energy transition as the key to a carbon and climate-neutral Europe. EuropeOn’s members operate electrical systems in buildings and infrastructures, install solar panels, energy management systems and electrical vehicles’ charging points. Julie is also in charge of the Skills4Climate campaign, raising awareness on the shortage in high-skilled professionals, which might endanger the practical rollout of the energy transition. Before joining EuropeOn, Julie worked for 4 years in Brussels in another association focused on the economic sectors of the French Outermost regions (Martinique, Réunion…). Originally from France, she studied Public Administration at Sciences Po Paris and European affairs at King’s College London.

Electrical vehicles have been a hot topic for the past few decades, but to achieve a true e-mobility revolution, not just an evolution, it is vital to address the main pillars surrounding the e-mobility topic, including electric vehicles adoption, government policies, market education, innovative technologies, grid stability, and the rise of renewable energy. Only then can we ensure that a wide-scale adoption of electric vehicles, by individuals and corporations, will come jointly with the adoption of renewable energy ensuring a zero-emission future.

Robert Llewellyn is a writer, presenter, actor and producer. Bio

Professor Dr. Quaschning has been a professor for the field of regenerative energy systems at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Berlin for 16 years. He is regarded as one of the pioneers in the field of renewable energies. As early as 1993, he wrote his doctoral thesis on shading of photovoltaic systems. From 1996 to 2000, he wrote his Habitilation on Structures of a Climate Compatible Energy Supply. Today, more than 45,200 subscribers follow Quaschning's YouTube channel, in which he provides up-to-date and well-founded information about the energy turnaround, climate protection and a sustainable energy supply. Quaschning has reached a very broad audience with his positions through several hundred magazine articles, conference contributions, lectures, interviews and appearances on radio and TV. Quaschning is also committed to a sustainable future in his role as co-initiator of the non-institutional, non-partisan and interdisciplinary association of scientists "Scientists for future".

Bio

Adrian is a global specialist in the installation and safety of PV systems with more than 20 years of PV experience. He began his career as a project manager for PV power plants and then worked as a product manager, responsible for small PV inverters.

Joining SolarEdge in 2015, Adrian’s main responsibility is the standardization of PV systems and components in national and international working groups and committees. He is also exploring system and safety topics in PV applications, communicating his findings in various international PV conferences.
